History

Series 1: History, 1958-2016, undated, includes the written history, photos, books, correspondence, news clippings, newsletters, and ephemera of the Alliance. Also included are photo albums and scrapbooks, which contain a variety of materials such as photos, news clippings, newsletters or event invitations. When possible, newsletters were removed from different sources throughout the collection to create a comprehensive group of newsletters in chronological order within this series. Some newsletters are dated December/January. In those instances the newsletters were placed with January in the new year. Newsletters may contain meeting, event, or other reminders.
This series also contains papers and photos of Josephine Jameson, one of the founders of the Alliance. The beginning of the series houses materials related to The Alliance history book published in 2008 (The Alliance of the Indianapolis Museum of Art: A History by Jane K. Graham), and other like materials are grouped together and arranged primarily in chronological order. This series is housed in 4 boxes, 1 OVA folder, 2 OVB folders, and 16 binders.
